ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT Nineteenth day of April One thousand nine hundred and thirty two BETWEEN HIS EXCELLENCY SIR WILLIAM PEEL, K.C.M.G.; K.B.E. Governor and Commander in Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies (who and whose Successors in Office are hereinafter referred to as "The Governor") for and on behalf of the Government of the said Colony of the one part and THE EASTERN EXTENSION AUSTRALASIA AND CHINA TELEGRAPH COMPANY LIMITED (hereinafter called "The Company") for and on behalf of themselves and The Great Northern Telegraph Company Limited of Copenhagen, Denmark of the other part WHEREAS by an Agreement dated the Sixth day of March, One thousand nine hundred and thirteen the Governor of Hong Kong granted unto the Company leave for the construction and maintenance of a row of telegraph poles upon Crown Land extending from Chatham Road, Hunghom, to the northern side of the bridge spanning the Sham Chun River and in accordance with the terms of such agreement the Company constructed and has maintained a row of telegraph poles AND WHEREAS the aforesaid Agreement expired on the 31st day of December One thousand nine hundred and thirty AND WHEREAS the Company has requested leave from the Governor to continue to maintain such row of telegraph poles as aforesaid together with an extension thereof to Kowloon Railway Station for a further period of fourteen years from the 1st day of January, One thousand nine hundred and thirty one which leave the Governor has consented to grant on the terms and conditions hereinafter contained NOW IT IS HEREBY WITNESSED THAT IT IS HEREBY AGREED AND DECLARED as follows (that is to say)

The Governor grants unto the Company leave for the maintenance of a row of telegraph poles upon that property the property of the Crown extending from Kowloon Railway Station to the northern side of the bridge spanning the Sham Chun River (including across all bridges) which said property is now occupied by the Railway and is hereinafter referred to as "The Railway Property",
Leave is hereby granted to the Company to maintain telegraph wires the number of which, subject nevertheless as hereinafter provided, is not to exceed three upon the said telegi aph poles.
Leave is hereby granted to the Company to carry and maintain the said wires through and in all tunnels, in which case such wires shall be of phosphor bronze or copper supported on brackets or be carried in a cable or cables supported on brackets, or be laid under ground, in such manner as may be required by the Manager of the Railway.
The position of all telegraph poles and brackets, the height of all wires and all other details of construction shall be such as to conform to the maximum or minimum structure gauge of the Railway, and shall be in all respects as the Manager of the Railway shall approve,
Subject to the approval of the Manager of the Railway the Company shall be at liberty to attach additional wires to the said telegraph poles and brackets.
The Manager of the Railway may at any time require the Company to make, at the Company's own expense, repairs to or alterations in the positions of the Company's telegraph poles or brackets or the wires attached thereto or cables in the event of such repairs or alterations being in the opinion of the Manager of the Railway required for purposes of the Railway; in which case a minimum notice in writing of 24 hours shall be given to the Company to commence to carry out such repairs or alterations. In the event of the matter being urgent and the Company delaying or being unable to carry out such repairs or alterations immediately the Manager of the Railway shall be at liberty to carry out such repairs or alterations and the cost thereof as certified by the
